A humble and earnest response to the demand for church

 

Despite a decline in church-going in many countries, people yearn for fresh ways in which to express and share their spirituality. Today’s contributor explores how a rethink of church as founded on the basis of spiritual healing can meet that need and be a powerful force for good in the world.

The demand for church is real. Some might agree with that statement. Others emphatically won’t. And yet in spite of declining membership, concerns about youth leaving church, and tragic stories of abuse, there is something else going on. Traditional forms of religious authority are falling away, giving an opening to a radical reexamination and rebirth of church.
